Skate Club!

We’re thrilled to share that the Brendan Leddy Memorial Fund Skate Club is well underway—and it's shaping up to be an exciting summer! From designing custom T-shirts and stickers to planning awesome events, the energy and creativity from our skaters is inspiring.

But it's more than just fun—our focus is on staying active, reducing stress, and encouraging healthy lifestyles. This mission is especially important for our youth skaters, helping them build positive habits on and off the board.

We're also excited to announce that our skate lessons, which follow club meetings, have been restructured to better support skill progression. With a renewed emphasis on safety, self-discipline, and community, we're creating an environment where skaters can thrive.

Stay tuned for updates on our events, and come be part of something meaningful this summer!

Spring Returns and We are in FULL SEND!

First up, we’re thrilled to announce this year’s recipient of the Woodward Scholarship: Parker Walton! Big congrats, Parker!

Earlier this year, Parker won a free week at Woodward through Nitro Circus, and we gave him the chance to bring a friend along. Without hesitation, he chose his buddy Preston to join him on an unforgettable adventure to Pennsylvania!

For those who don’t know, Camp Woodward is a premier summer camp known for its massive skateparks, BMX tracks, and regular visits from pro skaters.

And that’s not all— 5th & 6th Grade Skate Club is back and better than ever! Over 25 CES students showed up for the first meeting of the year, followed by a skate session at Calais Skatepark!

K&C Roofing Steps Up AGAIN!

K&C Roofing really stepped up on this one! With the new addition completed by the St. Croix Regional Technical Center: Building Trades Program - K&C Roofing replaced our old roofing, and roofed our new addition for FREE. They covered the cost of labor and materials. No one steps up quite like local businesses.

Skate Club at CES?!

Two weeks ago the Calais School Board approved a new after school program called “Skate Club” which will be led by Carly Davis of the Brendan Leddy Memorial Fund.

This after school program will be every Wednesday for students in 5th and 6th grade.

From 2:00-3:30 the program will focus on projects that keep the skatepark going, as well as other fun projects such as sticker design, ramp design, t-shirt printing and logo design.

The BLMF received a nicotine and tobacco prevention grant last month, so these kids will be designing stickers, t-shirts, and other merch based around the dangers of tobacco and how a healthy activity such as skateboarding can assist in living tobacco free. They will also be receiving some educational material based on the dangers of tobacco use, and how to prevent it.

From 4-6pm those who choose to participate will then walk to the skatepark for skateboarding lessons, where we provide all the equipment and instructors for free!

We felt it was important to have this after school program split into two sessions, one being at the school and one being at the skatepark - that way anyone who wants to be involved can, whether they skate or not. Big things coming.

Annual Christmas Party

Our annual Christmas Party was a success! We discussed what we accomplished in 2023 and what our plans are for 2024. This quickly evolved into our long term plans. Nothing to announce quite yet, but it will be our biggest venture so far! We welcomed new members, and we were well fed as the party was catered by East Coast BBQ.

Partnership with the Indiana Mad Ants

We are happy to announce that we are collaborating with the NBA G League Team, the Indiana Mad Ants! The jerseys have been designed with our logo on the back. The jerseys will be worn at a Mad Ants game in the near future and then will be auctioned online to benefit our nonprofit. We talked to so many great people at the Portland Expo where we showcased the jersey, handed out stickers and talked about what we do. We designed a skateboard to complete the collaboration, one will go home with the Mad Ants and one will be mounted at The Calais Skatepark. Huge thanks to the Mad Ants and Chris Taylor for always supporting our community.
